Simple truth is that when basic hardness vs toughness are concerned simple low alloy steels like 52100 and 80cvr2 beat almost all supersteels including Elmax, Magnacut and M390. Only thing supersteels really bring is edge retention and stain resistance.CPM Cruwear, 3V, Infi and AEB-L are still tougher, M390 is still more corrosion resistant. Toughness/wear resistance of Magnacut are right in between. Would be cool to try a Magnacut Manix 2 for $120, but (for now) to put all bets on it to buy a more expensive knife - it's just too early, I feel.
